About Us
The Borderman is an Institute for Border security studies (IBSS), a non-profit Think Tank. Our vision is to advance effective multilateral action to minimise crimes and build peace on Border through inclusive Border Security.
A group of dedicated individuals with wide and varied experience and keen interest on border security issues have come together to form “Borderman”, headquartered in New Delhi with a later extension to regional branches in Jaipur and Chandigarh.
The primary purpose is to promote the development of sound policies on border security by suggesting innovative and practical solutions to existing and emerging challenges to India’s national security and advance the cause of peace and security on India’s international borders.
Mission And Comparative Advantage
Our mission is to strengthen cooperative approaches among Central and state governments, international organisations, and the broader policy community to advance sustainable Border security and Management.
IBSS comparative advantage lies in two areas:
First, the institute specialises in the links between politics, security, justice, humanitarian responses and sustainable border security: we have staff with expertise in these different areas, and as an institution, we forge links between them.
Second, we focus on practical inputs and ideas-generation that is principled, practical and policy-relevant; ambitious while also being sensitive to evolving political realities and constraints to collective action on global problems.
The research interests of Borderman are as broad as India’s national interests. It has brought together distinguished professionals from across the country on border security dimensions of foreign policy, diplomacy, international politics, defence and strategic affairs, as well as media and journalism. Our research and events have a special South Asia focus, and our experts aim to produce action-oriented advice for government agencies.
The “Borderman” aims to be a world-leading online think-tank on border security, and we are soon going to launch our digital magazine.
