Pakistani drone entered Poonch from across LoC, Indian Army fired and drove it away
The Indian Army has foiled another attempt by a Pakistani drone to infiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. On the morning of Sunday, March 1, 2026, alert Army personnel fired at the suspected drone, forcing it to retreat.

Time and Place: The incident occurred between 5:45 and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning in the Digwar area of the Poonch sector.
Action: Indian Army personnel immediately took action after observing two or three small quadcopters violating Indian airspace. The alert troops fired more than a dozen rounds at the drone.
Result: After heavy fire, the Pakistani drone returned to Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Search Operation: Immediately after the intrusion, the Army launched a massive search operation in the entire area. This check is being conducted to ensure that no weapons, narcotics, or improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were dropped using the drone.
Second incident in three days: This is the second such incident in the Poonch sector in the last three days. A similar drone intrusion was previously foiled on February 27th.
High alert: The Indian Army has been placed on high alert along the Line of Control (LoC) in view of the escalating tensions in the Middle East and cross-border activities. Furthermore, schools in Jammu and Kashmir have been declared closed on March 2nd and 3rd for security reasons.
